What are you going to do?
What are you going to do?
What are you going to do about it? The thing you don’t like, the person you don’t like, the political party and politician you don’t like, the world that you don’t like – what are you going to do? Complain, be angry, post and Tweet negativity, whine, mope, crawl in a hole, never leave your house, never leave your church group, not even go to church?
If that’s the plan, nothing will change. Your life will get smaller, your groups will get smaller, your churches will get smaller, and your impact will be smaller. The less change is made, the less change will come.
Satan wants us to do nothing and hide so that he can continue making a mess of an already messy world. Negativity sucks the soul into a whirlwind of negativity. Positive change comes in our lives, and the lives of others, when we love Jesus. Jesus said, love God, love others, go, tell others about God, make disciples, and love with His love.
We can focus and complain about what is not liked, what we wish would change, or focus on our loving God who can change anything and everything. Your life, the time you spend, makes a difference. Your attitude makes a difference. Your prayers make a difference. You may not be able to change the world, change everyone else, but you can be the change.
Leave the world a better place because you loved with God’s love while you were in the world. What are you going to do?
“Jesus answered, …”love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength…love your neighbor as yourself.’ ~ Mark 12:29-31 (NASB)
“Here is a simple rule of thumb for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you; then grab the initiative and do it for them! If you only love the lovable, do you expect a pat on the back? Run-of-the-mill sinners do that. If you only help those who help you, do you expect a medal? Garden-variety sinners do that. If you only give for what you hope to get out of it, do you think that’s charity? The stingiest of pawnbrokers does that.
“I tell you, love your enemies. Help and give without expecting a return. You’ll never—I promise—regret it. Live out this God-created identity the way our Father lives toward us, generously and graciously, even when we’re at our worst. Our Father is kind; you be kind.
“Don’t pick on people, jump on their failures, criticize their faults—unless, of course, you want the same treatment. Don’t condemn those who are down; that hardness can boomerang. Be easy on people; you’ll find life a lot easier. Give away your life; you’ll find life given back, but not merely given back—given back with bonus and blessing. Giving, not getting, is the way. Generosity begets generosity.” ~ Luke 6:31-38 (MSG)
