Smoking and shaking
Several years ago, my husband and I spent a quiet afternoon shopping. Our lazy wanderings were interrupted when my cell phone rang.
“Lisa,” my mom’s voice struggled to remain calm, “your security company just called. Your fire alarm is going off and the fire department is on their way.”
My husband and I hurried to the car and prayed all the way home. We were so grateful our smoke detectors were hard-wired in case of trouble to automatically notify the fire department.
When we arrived, neighbors were gathered on the street and fire-fighters were already positioned to enter by force. House alarms screeching, we hurried and unlocked the door. Smoke and a nauseous odor billowed out. Our poor little dog, wide-eyed and shaking so much I thought his fur would fly off, ran to our waiting arms.
Fire-fighters rushed inside. We waited and prayed. Within minutes, the source of the smoke was found. A tea kettle had been left on a burner. What remained was a partially molten mass only seconds away from igniting. Besides a traumatized dog, a destroyed kettle, and a horrible odor, everything was fine.
However, if not for the fire and smoke alarms, our situation would have ended in disaster. Warnings have a purpose—protection and a chance for escape. The world is smoking and shaking and God is calling. Please don’t miss the warnings. Please don’t wait.
Heaven is real and so is hell. Jesus is The Rescue, The Way, the Escape. Through Jesus Christ we have forgiveness and eternal life. Jesus is the key to heaven and eternal freedom.
God allows us to choose Heaven by accepting His Son, Jesus Christ as Savior. Or we have another choice. We can say no. We can turn our back on God. Both choices have eternal consequences. The warning is for your benefit. Please don’t ignore the warnings. Don’t miss your chance. Please don’t miss your chance.
The world is shaking and smoking with warning signs. Time is short. God is calling. Please choose heaven by choosing God’s Son, Jesus Christ.
God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.
Jesus said, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. If the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed (John 3:16-17, John 14:6, Matthew 11:28, Romans 6:23, Romans 10:9-10, Romans 10:13, John 8:36).

Such a great illustration of the state of our world.
Thank you.
I remember teaching when it is associated with such a story.
God bless you.
God bless you, Mary! Oh, that people would turn to our wonderful God and enjoy His offer of salvation.
