Wanting more
Do you want more? I want more of God. I want to be more like God’s precious Son, Jesus Christ.
I’m learning, the more I get out of the way, the more God can work in me. The more I die to self, the more I can be filled with God’s presence. The more I relinquish control, the more freedom I am given in Christ. The more I yield to God’s will and desires, the more God can perfect that which concerns me. The more I give Him, of me, the more He can transform me into the glory and radiance of His Son.
Because more than we can imagine, God loves us. “How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand….” ~ Psalm 139:17-18 (ESV)
More than our sin, God’s grace saves us. “For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. Here it is in a nutshell: Just as one person did it wrong and got us in all this trouble with sin and death, another person did it right and got us out of it. But more than just getting us out of trouble, he got us into life! One man said no to God and put many people in the wrong; one man said yes to God and put many in the right.” ~ Romans 5:10-12 (ESV), Romans 5:18-19 (MSG).
More than our dreams, God extravagantly blesses. “God can pour on the blessings in astonishing ways so that you’re ready for anything and everything, more than just ready to do what needs to be done. As one psalmist puts it, He throws caution to the winds, giving to the needy in reckless abandon. His right-living, right-giving ways never run out, never wear out. This most generous God who gives seed to the farmer that becomes bread for your meals is more than extravagant with you. He gives you something you can then give away, which grows into full-formed lives, robust in God, wealthy in every way, so that you can be generous in every way, producing with us great praise to God.” ~ 2 Corinthians 9:8-11 (MSG)
“God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us. Glory to God in the church! Glory to God in the Messiah, in Jesus! Glory down all the generations! Glory through all millennia! Oh, yes!” ~ Ephesians 3:20-21 (MSG)
