Rescue
Fall arrived on the hottest day of the week. Taking advantage of the sunny day, I decided to wash our yard sneakers we had left on the patio or garage. Not sure if spiders or some other unsightly creepy-crawly-bug thing had decided to hide in the shoes, I picked them up by their laces and threw them in the washer, started the water, closed the lid, and walked away.
A few minutes later, for some unknown reason, I returned to the laundry room and opened the lid. The washer was continuing to fill and had not started. I peered inside, and out of the suds popped a big frog.
Poor baby had evidently been in one of the shoes. I grabbed a rag, told him I would help, prayed the Lord would tell him I was going to help, and was able to wrap him up and take him outside. The frog sat and looked at me for a few minutes, then hopped under our shed to safety.
I know to some this was not a big thing. He was only a frog. But for me, it makes me tear up at the loving-kindness of our God. I didn’t know something was trapped and in danger in our washer, but God knew. He knew the frog needed rescue.
Some of you are in a situation and wonder if God knows where you are, knows your need, knows you are afraid, and you wonder if God will come to your rescue. Dear one, not one of His children is unnoticed. God knows, He cares, He is with you, and His strong, loving arm is never too short to save.
Jesus reassures, “Are not five sparrows sold for two cents? Yet not one of them is forgotten before God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.” ~ Luke 12:6-7 (NASB)
“Is anyone crying for help? God is listening, ready to rescue you.” ~ Psalm 34:17 (MSG)
“Truly the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love” ~ Psalm 33:18 (NRSV)
“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” ~ Isaiah 41:10 (NASB)
