Keep updating
If I don’t keep my website software up-to-date, my site is prone to attacks. And, boy does my little website stay under attack — almost 5000 hits one day from hackers and bots around the world as they tried to gain access. My security software programs run constantly, and I make sure they keep running and stay updated at all times.
In the same way, we need to make sure our minds are updated with God’s word. If we don’t continue reading and studying God’s Word, we are prone to more attacks of the enemy to twist and manipulate God’s truth. Without the truth from the Bible, we are more prone to false teaching, more prone to depression and negative issues with our bodies and minds.
Even though I have been a Christian for decades, I still see new truths and exciting new discoveries as I read and reread passages.
The more we read the Bible, the more truth we find and the deeper that truth is ingrained in our spirits and thoughts. The Bible keeps our souls fed and nourished, enriched with The Truth. The living water keeps us spiritually hydrated.
Reading God’s word helps us obey and be blessed by His word. Jesus said, “…blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it” (Luke 11:28).
We are given a weapon to fight against Satan and against the lies of this world. The Bible is our offensive weapon which is the sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17).
Treasure sought in God’s word, brings forth treasure. As we read and study, the Holy Spirit illuminates and opens our mind to understand things hidden from the foundation of the world.
The Bible is alive, powerful, active, energizing, and equipping. Through Bible study we are trained, corrected, instructed, renewed, and restored.
For your protection, keep your mind safe, secure, and updated in God’s word.
“A Bible that’s falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t.” ~ Charles Spurgeon
“Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]… All Scripture is God-breathed [given by divine inspiration] and is profitable for instruction, for conviction [of sin], for correction [of error and restoration to obedience], for training in righteousness [learning to live in conformity to God’s will, both publicly and privately—behaving honorably with personal integrity and moral courage]; so that the man of God may be complete and proficient, outfitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.” ~ Matthew 4:4 (NASB), Hebrews 4:12 (AMPC), 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (AMP)
Therefore, “Do not be conformed to this present world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may test and approve what is the will of God—what is good and well-pleasing and perfect. Making “every effort to present yourself before God as a proven worker who does not need to be ashamed, teaching the message of truth accurately.” ~ Romans 12:2 (NET Bible), 2 Timothy 2:15 (NET Bible)
