Expecting the best
During a time of prayer, I wondered, what if I expected the best from God? What if I expected the best, because God’s ways are the best, His love is the best, and He loves me the best?
I’ve been reading books by people who are currently living in countries where Christians are persecuted. These people have amazing faith and witness many miracles. I wonder is that because they have no preconceived notions about what God can and cannot do? They expect God to move in mighty ways and therefore see Him move in mighty ways.
In many areas, religion is boxed into a sanitized version of Christianity. “Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.” ~ Matthew 13:58 (NKJV)
If we never expect the best, will we ever see the best?
“God baptizes us with holy boldness and divine confidence for He is looking not for great people but for people who will dare to prove the greatness of their God!” ~ A. B. Simpson
“In your prayers, above everything else, beware of limiting God, not only through unbelief but also by thinking you know exactly what He can do. Learn to expect the unexpected, beyond all that you ask or think.” ~ Andrew Murray
What if I lived in the holy boldness and divine confidence by remembering the greatness of my God? What if I expected the unexpected of exceedingly, abundantly more than I could ask or imagine? Just writing those words, I can feel a holy confidence rising within me.
The Truth is that nothing is impossible for God. His love is unfailing, His supremacy is unstoppable, and His might is mightier than anything or anyone.
As Christians, His power lives within us. The best, The Very Best, lives within us. Does my life, and do my prayers, change when I remember those facts? To be honest, yes. Problems become smaller when I view situations through the lens of our great God. Dreams become bigger when I remember the might and power of our GREAT God.
Worry and hesitation ends as boldness and confidence takes over because my boldness and confidence is in our loving, unfailing, ALL-POWERFUL God.
Heavenly Father, I want Your best and Your perfect will. Through the hard, difficult, good, bad, and ugly, please grant me eyes to watch for how You are moving and working. Help me live in Your holy boldness and confidence. I want to see and experience the exceedingly, abundantly more than I could ask or imagine. Nothing is too hard for You, nothing is impossible for You, for You are a GREAT God! Help me never limit You and always expect the best, for You are the BEST! Praise You Holy Father! I love You!
I ask these things in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who is my Savior. Amen!
What are you expecting?
