Defying gravity
The other day, while I walked and listened to praise music, caught up in the joy of worship, I felt like my hair was standing on end. (Really! I even stopped and took a selfie to check.) No outward signs, but what delight as my spirit soared to the heavens. My feet were touching earth but my soul defied gravity.
Paul said as Christians we are seated in the heavens with Christ. “For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.” ~ Ephesians 2:6 (NLT)
Jesus said the truth will set us free. If I could truly grasp the truth that my soul lives in the heavens, my soul-feet would never touch the ground. I would be walking on air – Holy Spirit air.
We are to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. In loving God with everything within us, we find we don’t want or need anything but God. We find we have all we need in Him and thus defy gravity. Through praise and worship, filling our thoughts with God’s Word, meditating on the goodness of our God, we defy gravity.
The world brings us down and depresses, but loving God presses our hearts into the safety, joy, and peace of His unfailing love.
We are never earth-bound when we are heaven-bound (no space-suit needed!). Let’s remember Whose we are, and where we are, and let’s defy gravity!
Such a sweet experience when the Holy Spirit bubbles up like that!
I was once painting a wall in my office; Josh Wilson’s “I Refuse” was playing, and I just burst into tears!
It was such a “I know your heart ❤️! ” moment from God!
He knows just what we need at the exact moment we need it!
What an AWESOME God He is!
