The Door Home
My thirty-sixth move loomed on the horizon. Every move brought excitement, hesitation, negatives, and positives. Each new city offered opportunities for lessons and growth as life-long friendships and sweet family memories were made. As we moved again and again, I hoped and prayed I would finally find home – not just a house, but home.
I pondered this continual desire for home, and I realized Jesus is the way Home, He is the door. Jesus is the door Home!
No matter how many times I move, the Door Home stays open through Jesus. *Happy sigh*
The amazing, wonderful thing is, there is so much more in God’s word about the word “door.”
Jesus is the door (John 10:7-9) Jesus stands at the door, and is the way to grace, mercy, and abundant life (Revelation 3:20).
God opens doors to set captives free, to open the door of salvation, to open doors of ministry, to open doors no man can shut (Luke 4:18, John 10:7-10, 1 Corinthians 16:9, Revelation 3:7).
Passover, where death passes over the door and Jesus is the Passover lamb to free us from eternal death (Exodus 12:7, Exodus 12:22-23, John 1:29).
We are told to keep and write God’s word on the doorposts of our houses (Deuteronomy 6:9, 11:20). To close our doors and pray to the Father (Matthew 6:6).
The door is an ark (refuge, safety, rescue) (Genesis 7:15-16).
God met to speak at the door of the tabernacle (Exodus 29:42, Exodus 33:9-10). The Lord appeared at the tabernacle in a pillar of cloud, standing above the door (Deuteronomy 31:15). Moses and Aaron went to the door of the tabernacle, fell on their faces and the glory of the Lord appeared to them at the door. (Numbers 20:6).
Sin crouches at the door it’s desire is for you, but you should rule over it (Genesis 4:7).
Jesus, The Door, opens our lives to an incredible, grace-filled, mercy of eternal life. Jesus is the door to release us from captivity of sin and worry. Jesus is the door for our ministry here on earth, doors that no man can shut. Jesus is the Passover lamb that takes away our sin, He is the door to our Heavenly Father.
