Taken away
A friend of mine grew up in a country hostile to Christians. Her mother knew the time was short to keep their Bibles, so she had her children memorize scripture. As a result, my friend could quote much of the Bible.
If tomorrow your church was taken away, your Bibles removed from your home, and you were told never to talk about Christ. What would you do?
Have you memorized scripture? Could you tell others about Christ without your pastor or Bible teacher?
Christians around the world are faced with persecution. Our time may also come when our Bibles, books, churches, teachers and pastors, and Christian artifacts are taken away. We need to be prepared.
We don’t need to fear, we don’t need to worry, but we do need to make sure our faith is solid, sure, and grounded. Hide God’s word in your heart. Know God’s truth so that you will always be able to stand firm on God’s truth.
“You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals on your forehead. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” ~ Deuteronomy 6:6-9 (NASB)
“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” ~ 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NASB)
