Show me the lie

Posted on September 16, 2024 by Lisa BuffaloeSeptember 16, 2024

Have you ever been troubled and fearful about something? Perhaps even anxious and worried, and didn’t even know why you were anxious and worried? Boy, I have. Sometimes worry, fear, anxiety, and trouble, jump on my back or nip at my heels, and I have no idea how to fix them or sometimes even figure out what is causing all the craziness. Ack! Whimper. Ack!!!!

Difficult and downright scary problems come into our lives. However, Jesus tells us not to worry because our Heavenly Father is a loving, good Father and will always provide for our needs (Matthew 6:25-34). I believe that, I know those truths. I know God is good and loving, however, Satan is sneaky and knows where to hit. A head-long enemy attack is usually obvious, so he often uses bothersome and downright crazy annoying problems that surround like gnats buzzing around our heads or like gerbils nipping at our heels.

Satan is out to steal, kill, and destroy. As Christians, the enemy can’t take away our salvation, but he will try to steal our joy and hope, kill our passion for Christ, and destroy our witness.

Behind every fear, worry and anxiety, is a demonic lie. Satan wants us to believe in the midst of our problems, in the middle of storms, God is not sufficient, not powerful enough, not loving enough, and won’t help. The Truth is God is loving, ALL-powerful, ALL-sufficient, just and righteous, and He takes care of His children.

“Freedom from spiritual conflicts and bondage is not a power encounter; it’s a truth encounter. Satan is a deceiver, and he will work undercover at all costs. But the truth of God’s Word exposes him and his lies.” ~ Neil T. Anderson[i]

To get back on the solid-ground of Truth, remember who God is, remember His promises and His Word. During battles, go to God and ask Him, “What is the lie the enemy has planted in my head?” I’ve found lies range from unbelief, distrust in God’s love and sufficiency, worries about our inadequacy, and many others.

Our battle is not with flesh and blood, behind the mess is Satan making all the mess. Therefore, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal God’s truth. His truth sets us free, and the Word of God is our offensive weapon. You are never left defenseless. Go to God, ask Him to show you the lie, then combat that lie with God’s truth.

Pray with me? Heavenly Father, please show me the lie behind this battle. Reveal Your truth so that I may stand firm on Your truth and combat every enemy lie. Help me to find scriptures I can pray about each situation. Open my eyes to see beyond the person, situation, or circumstance that seems to be causing the problems. Show me the lie the enemy has planted, and then help me to remember Your truth and quiet me with Your love. There is nothing too hard for You, nothing is impossible for You, for You are ALL-mighty and forever loving. You will never leave me or forsake me. Thank You, Father, that in Your light and truth, every enemy will fall. I ask these things in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who is my Savior. Amen.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places. Therefore, put on the complete armor of God, so that you will be able to [successfully] resist and stand your ground in the evil day [of danger], and having done everything [that the crisis demands], to stand firm [in your place, fully prepared, immovable, victorious].” ~ Ephesians 6:12-13 (AMP)

“The Lord your God is in your midst, a victorious warrior. He will exult over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.” ~ Zephaniah 3:17 (NASB)

Jesus said, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” ~ John 8:31-32 (NASB)

Stella’s Heart Code

Tormented for decades by a man who wanted her dead, Stella Nicely moved to Crawdad Beach and prayed that God would rescue her and give her a new life. An orphan, widow, and retired cybersecurity spy, she didn’t have many options other than trying to survive. She trusted God to protect her life, but could she trust Him to protect her heart?

Security specialist Wilder Templeton regretted much of his past. God had mercifully forgiven him and given him a new start. However, would Wilder be able to protect and convince the woman he had always loved that he was a changed man?

Book 5 of the Crawdad Beach Series.

Run Your Race

Posted on July 29, 2024 by Lisa BuffaloeJuly 29, 2024

I’ve hesitated to respond regarding the opening at the Paris Olympics. I’ve gone through a myriad of emotions, from anger to sadness. I need to remember we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Yet God is good and always loving and continues reaching out to the lost through the nail-scarred hands of His Son, Jesus Christ. God calls people to come to His pure, holy, awesome, eternal love and grace.

Instead of complaining and grumbling about the evil around me, I need to share the good news that Jesus Christ died for a sinful world. I need to tell others about the joy Christ brings through His forgiveness, grace, and mercy. I also want to share with others what Jesus Christ has done for me, saving, cleansing, and making me His child, and how He can do the same for anyone who calls on His name.

For those who don’t know Christ as Savior, please “repent [change your inner self—your old way of thinking, regret past sins] and return [to God—seek His purpose for your life], so that your sins may be wiped away [blotted out, completely erased], so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord [restoring you like a cool wind on a hot day. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” (Acts 3:19-20, AMP, John 3:16-17, ESV).

For those who know Christ as Savior, focus on Jesus, run your race you’ve been called to run and share the good news. “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.” Therefore, “lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.” And let’s do as Jesus said: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Hebrews 12:1-3, 1 Corinthians 9:24-25, Matthew 28:19-20, ESV).
