Needy
I really wanted something, really, really wanted something. I prayed and pursued the thing I desired. The desire even seemed a God-honoring desire. Surely, it was something God would want me to have.
At times, I’ve whined and been very distracted by my perception of something I thought I needed (or really did need). Eventually, I would give it to God, semi-trusting Him to meet that need. However, I would quickly run back to analyze, stew, and try to fix things in my own power and get that need met in some way or another. Must. Have. Need. Met!
At times, I’ve needed a friend, needed a spouse, needed a job, needed answers, needed so many things, but what I need to always remember is what Paul shared, “God will liberally supply (fill until full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” And, God is “able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Philippians 4:19, AMP), (Ephesians 3:20, NKJV).
God exceedingly, abundantly supplies for our needs, our every need. So, I wondered, was I staring so intently at my need, that God’s Kingdom remained hidden?
Stepping away from my need, I asked God to open my eyes to see the blessings He already supplied.
Once my spiritual focus was realigned with God, I realized I had been staring at one thing and missed everything else God was doing in my life.
When I needed a friend, God reminded me of the friends He supplied through family, church, other areas, and especially the ever-present friendship with Him (John 15:15).
When I needed something financially, God showed me how He often provides in unusual ways through coins in the mouth of a fish (Matthew 17:25-27). He multiplies the little to make much (Matthew 14:13-20, Matthew 15:32-38), for nothing is ever impossible for Him (Luke 1:37).
All the time, all around you, in every need you have, God is pouring out His blessings. God works in every thing. Remember, God’s exceeding, abundant provision is more than we could ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). God’s love is with you through every lovely and every unlovely moment. God’s grace and mercy are there for every need of grace and mercy. God’s healing is available for every wound. God’s blessings endure forever, His love and friendship never fail, He is with you always.
Do you have a need? Ask God to show you how He is working. Ask Him to show you how to refocus your focus on His Kingdom perspective.
Heavenly Father, You promise to provide for all my needs, therefore, help me to see Your Kingdom perspective by refocusing my focus on You. Help me to see what You have already provided. Help me not to be anxious about tomorrow, because You are already there in my every tomorrow. Help me to know the difference between my wants and my needs. Enlarge my vision and my understanding to see how You are working. Help me to remember that nothing is impossible for You and Your grace is sufficient for all my needs. Help me to not miss how You are working in every day of my life. Thank You, Father!
