Let’s do it again
Several years ago, we watched two videos made by a soft drink company with race driver, Jeff Gordon. Jeff, disguised as an older gentleman, visited a car dealership and took an unsuspecting car salesman on the test drive of his life.
The poor car salesman was terrified, horrified, and screamed during much of the wild, fast-speed “test” drive. By the time Jeff pulled back in the sales lot, the salesman jumped out of the car ready to call the police.
However, when Jeff identified himself, the man’s face showed relief, then delight. And he immediately asked Jeff, “Want to do it again?”
Once the video went viral, several journalists claimed the video was a fake. The soft drink company and Jeff again teamed up.
Disguised as a cab driver, Jeff picked up one of the automotive journalists who had questioned the authenticity of the original video. The man thought he was going to the airport. Instead, Jeff took the man on a hair-raising, crazy ride. The journalist screamed, kicked, and begged to get out.
Yet, when Jeff came to a stop and identified himself, the man wanted to go for another ride.
The thing that struck me was, how many times do we beg, scream, curse, and demand to get out of difficult situations — even though God is in control, even though The One who loves us best, who will never fail us or forsake us, is in control. What if we truly realized this fact and enjoyed the ride?
What if we remembered (never forgot) that God is with us, and His power, wisdom, and strength are in the driver’s seat?
What if we joyfully buckled in knowing that each trial, each wild ride, results in more strength, power, and knowledge that God is in control, and our faith is growing stronger. Let’s do it again, let’s trust God to drive us safely home.
Rest easy, friends. God loves you and will guide you safely home.
“For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” ~ Jeremiah 29:11 (AMP)
“Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.]” ~ John 14:27 (AMP)
“Do not fear [anything], for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, be assured I will help you; I will certainly take hold of you with My righteous right hand [a hand of justice, of power, of victory, of salvation].’” ~ Isaiah 41:10 (AMP)
