Fireflies
Awestruck with wonder, she watched as tiny flashes filled the night sky. Hand outstretched, she squealed in glee as a firefly landed on her small fingers. A dark night transformed into a marvelous soul-pleasing delight.
Our world is a dark place and we as Christians are here to be fireflies in the darkness. We are bearers of The Good News and have the marvelous light of Christ shining within us. Oh that we would live in such a way that others are drawn to the wonder and beauty of Jesus Christ.
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine!” ~ Matthew 5:16 (NKJV), Matthew 5:14-15 (MSG)
Be a light, shining in a way that glorifies God. You are a light-bearer, so let your light shine!
“…you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” ~ 1 Peter 2:9 (NASB)
“…walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.” ~ Colossians 1:10-12 (NASB)
(Bold mine on scripture)
