Help stop the flood
Have you ever wondered why you were born and why you lived in the places you did? God formed you and knit you together in your mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13). He “made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward Him and find Him” (Acts 17:26-27). God knows the plans and purposes He has for you (Jeremiah 29:11).
God created us so that we would seek Him and find Him. He set boundaries, placing us here, now, for such a time as this. Where we are, where we have been, and even the difficulties in our lives all have an eternal purpose and plan. God has placed each of us in the body of Christ to be used where He puts us in the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:18).
A story is told about a little Dutch boy who saved his village from a flood by sticking his finger in a leaking levee. In Ezekiel 22:30 we read where God said that He searched for a person who would build up a wall and stand in the gap before Him for the land, so that He would not destroy it; but He found no one.
The enemy wants us to stay so busy and distracted by what is going on in our lives, or around us, that we aren’t paying attention to where God has placed us and the calling He has for us.
Therefore, walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called (Ephesians 4:1-3). Stripping off every unnecessary weight and the sin which so easily and cleverly entangles, run with endurance and active persistence the race that is set before you, looking away from all that will distract you and focus your eyes on Jesus, who is the Author and Perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:1-2).
The world is leaking, the dam is bursting, because many are not standing in the gap before the Lord.
Please don’t be distracted. Be faithful where you are, for you are here for such a time as this. Walk and run your race, for you are part of God’s wonderful design and plan.
For God “delivered us and saved us and called us with a holy calling [a calling that leads to a consecrated life—a life set apart—a life of purpose], not because of our works [or because of any personal merit—we could do nothing to earn this], but because of His own purpose and grace [His amazing, undeserved favor] which was granted to us in Christ Jesus before the world began [eternal ages ago]” (2 Timothy 1:9, AMP).
