Our very last breath
John Harper, a widower and preacher, was aboard the Titanic in 1912 when an iceberg scraped and ripped open the ship’s hull. John was traveling with his six-year-old daughter and his relative, Jessie Leitch. He quickly got Jessie and his daughter on a lifeboat while shipmates assured everyone the Titanic couldn’t sink. Yet documented reports tell of John yelling for the women, children, and unsaved to get into the lifeboats.
As the boat sank, John along with over 1500 people went into the icy waters. He was then seen frantically swimming from person to person trying to lead them to Christ. One young man was clinging to debris and John asked him if was saved. He replied he was not, John tried to lead him to Christ without success, and John gave the man his life vest telling him he needed it more than he did. John then swam away to other people. A few minutes later John returned pleading again for him to accept Christ.
Out of all those people in the frigid waters that night only six were rescued. That young man was one of them. At a survivor’s meeting four years later, in tears, he told of how John Harper had led him to Christ. He also reported that “Mr. Harper had tried to swim back to help other people, yet because of the intense cold, had grown too weak to swim. His last words before going under in the frigid waters were “Believe on the Name of the Lord Jesus and you will be saved.”
Our world is drowning in the darkness of sin, will we be like John Harper willing to pass our life-vest of Jesus Christ, use our words, our very last breath, to tell others who Christ is, to point those living in darkness to The Light, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
“Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved (Acts 16:31). “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). For, “there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him” (John 3:16-17).

That
The devil lies that you can’t handle “that,” that you won’t be able to survive “that,” you can’t make it through another day of “that.” The truth is, God equipped you before you were born, He will be with you every moment of every day, He will never leave you or forsake you, and He will provide for everything needed for every “that” that comes your way.
God is all-sufficient, and He has all the power, strength, provision, comfort, healing, peace, for everything you need. So take heart, you can handle whatever “that” is, because God has every “that” under His loving control.
“I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]” ~ John 16:33 (AMPC)
“Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.” ~ Deuteronomy 31:6 (NASB)
“For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.” ~ Jeremiah 29:11 (NASB)
“And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” ~ Philippians 4:19 (AMPC)
“For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment.” ~ Luke 1:37 (AMPC)
