Have you ever been in a body of water completely panicked, with arms flailing, thinking you’re drowning, when in reality all you had to do was lower your feet and stand up?
I’ve been there, done that. Rather embarrassing, but very comforting when those toes touch sand or terra-firma.
Which got me to wondering, how often do we as Christians flounder, flap, and flail in the midst of our circumstances? (Boy, I have!)
Often, we forget Jesus promises that no one will ever snatch us from the safety of His hand. Stop, rest, think about, and relish that wonderful truth.
No matter what difficulties we face, we really are always safe in God’s hands and firmly planted in His love. When we take the time to be still and remember God is in control our flailing stops.
“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” ~
Psalm 46:10 (NKJV)
Be still in Hebrew means to sink down, let drop, be quiet, or relax. How awesome we can lean back, confident in the palm of God’s Hands. We are always held secure in the loving hands of Jesus.
“I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.” ~ John 10:28-29 (NASB)
