Thanks to weight training, I once was able to out-lift many men in the gym. I could bench press my body weight, lift the stack (250 lbs) on the leg machine, and even lifted 750 lbs using my calf muscles. (Yes, that was in the past).
Unfortunately, illness derailed my strength and strength training. Too weak to walk, all I could do was sit or lie still while untreated Lyme Disease ravaged my body. But during that eleven year battle, I learned so many amazing truths. One of which is that we don’t have to be strong. Our God is strong enough. Our God provides the strength. Our God is our strength!
C. H. Spurgeon said it well… “The same God who directs the earth in its orbit, who feeds the burning furnace of the sun, and trims the lamps of heaven has promised to supply you with daily strength.”
So my friends…“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. (Ephesians 3:16-21 NIV).
