Secret Agents

Swingset

When I was a little girl, I loved pretending to be a secret agent. With my imagination ripe for adventure, the glider on my friend’s swingset became the transportation to secret missions.

Rescues would be made, secrets recovered, and prisoners released. My friend and I would dangle precariously over lava, shark, or lion pits, then slide to safety. Just thinking about those days makes me smile.

I still feel like a secret agent, because Christians are here on a mission working undercover in a world held hostage. We live, walk, and move through enemy territory, telling others the Good news about our Jesus who sets captives free.

“‘I’m sending you off to open the eyes of the outsiders so they can see the difference between dark and light, and choose light, see the difference between Satan and God, and choose God. I’m sending you off to present my offer of sins forgiven, and a place in the family, inviting them into the company of those who begin real living by believing in me.’ (Acts 26:16-18 MSG).

Heavenly Father, I’m reporting for assignment. Use me today and every day to fulfill the mission for which I’ve been created. I have Your book to guide me, Your Spirit to lead me, and the armor of God to protect me. Keep my eyes on You and my ears always ready for Your beckon call.
