I collect rocks in the shape of hearts. I find them in streams, parking lots, in our own back yard, and wherever my journey leads. Their stone faces remind me that even in nature God speaks of His love. They are memorials of how God changed, and continues to change, my stony heart. His grace covered my sins. His love broke through my defensive walls. His healing touch healed my wounds. He guards my heart through times of trouble. His tender care rocks my heart to peace.

I’m absolutely completely miserable if I don’t read, speak, or write of my Lord. “If I say, I will not make mention of the Lord or speak any more in His name, in my mind and heart it is as if there were a burning fire shut up in my bones. And I am weary of enduring and holding it in; I cannot contain it any longer’” (Jeremiah 20:9 AMP).

I’m a work in progress. I told my Bible study friends I feel like I’m covered in scales highlighted for removal. There is an awakening of flaws that need to be pried off and eliminated. Maybe as a Buffaloe I’m molting. The more I seek God and pursue His presence through prayer and Bible study, the more my imperfections are revealed through gentle nudges or light bulb, “aha” moments. I’ve stopped in my tracks shocked to find something that has lurked for years in some dark recess. We are talking a major God-directed spring cleaning. And the oddly, wonderfully giddy thing is with each spot peeled away, cleaned up, and released to God’s healing/restoring touch, the more I find freedom.
