Sunday afternoon. Church and lunch has come and gone. I gather my Bible, Bible study, and my Kindle with words waiting to be read. Small heater blowing warmth into the room, I curl into my recliner. My soul kneels at God’s feet, prayers of thanksgiving echo and travel to heaven’s throne. There are so many blessings–small and large–they all speak of God’s love. I don’t want to slip from earth’s existence to life everlasting without watching, accepting, and experiencing the gifts of His hand. I don’t want to limit His love and power. I don’t want my human thoughts, ideals, and desires to stand in His way. And so I rest.

Read more →During my early years, I wasn’t the strongest, tallest, or smartest. I could run fast, until my knee blew out in a pickup game of football with the big guys in the neighborhood. During recess or gym, I was the last to be picked. If I didn’t get on the bus quickly after school, the bus driver had to force someone to share a seat with me. Yes, I was, Forrestina Gump. Even with a loving and supportive family, those lonely, painful years were difficult. At night, I would snuggle in my bed with my stuffed animals, wishing and praying there would be someone who would choose me.
