Waiting For Rescue

Severance dwindles, insurance is ending soon, we are 168 days into my sweet husband’s job outsourcing, and we continue to wait. The waves of questions pummel as we pray, search for work, waiting for God to calm the storm.

The disciples understood this concept. Jesus sent them ahead to cross the lake early in the evening. Scholars estimate they struggled against a raging storm for close to nine hours. Their boat was mercilessly pounded by wind and rain and battered by waves. Every muscle on their bodies taxed to the limit as they struggled, rowed, and prayed for help.

Rumbling Washer

For the last eight months, a teeth-gritting, grinding metallic rumble has signaled our washer’s spin cycle. When the problem began, a repair man was contacted. He took it apart, showed me the stripped gears, stated the imminent demise of the machine, and pronounced his outrageous fee. Since my husband’s job was outsourced in January, we politely declined the offer and prayed for God’s favor in keeping the washer working until we are again employed.

Never letting go

She sat on the side of the road, tears staining her cheeks, exhausted, alone, not a friend in the world. Oblivious to her agony, cars whizzed past stirring the heat. A few steps and it would all be over. The nightmares would end, her shattered heart would cease to beat, and the pain would end. Rising to her feet she took a step forward. Where are you God? If you exist, why did you allow this never-ending suffering? Feeling a presence, she stopped, looked, but she was alone. Always alone. And yet her legs wouldn’t move, glued to the gravel of the shoulder only a foot from the road. The whoosh of air with each car and truck whipped her hair, dust stinging her eyes.

Daring to Live on the Edge

Loren Cunningham in Daring to Live on the Edge writes, “Sometimes living by faith means waiting, giving Him (God) the opportunity to act. A farmer described it to me like this: God tells you to go out on a limb. Once you get out there, you hear a sound—Rrrh! Rrrh! Rrrh! You turn around, and there’s the devil with a chain saw, cutting off your limb. Bible faith is staying on the end of that limb and watching Satan continue to saw until the whole tree falls over with him in it and you stay aloft on the limb! That’s faith. It’s not faith in the tree, nor faith in the limb. It’s faith in the Word of God and faith in the One who stands behind His word.”

Lyme Disease

How could one tiny tick cause so many problems? Chronic Lyme disease stinks. Six years of incorrect diagnosis left borreliosis bacteria firmly entrenched in my body causing a roller coaster ride of never-ending negative effects. I’ve begged for healing for years. Even with prayer, faith healers, healing rooms, anointing with oil, constant and consistent prayer, repenting of anything and everything from my earliest thought patterns, and still the illness remains. I’d throw myself on the ground
